The Most Important Work Happens in Private

I thought the greatest gift that day was an unexpected Mercedes-Benz ride. I was wrong.

The greatest gift was the conversation that happened because I ended up in that car.

It started with what looked like an inconvenience. I was waiting for a shared transfer to the ferry terminal. Twenty minutes passed, and I was starting to lose my patience. The van never arrived.

Instead, a private Mercedes-Benz pulled up. For the same price.

At first, I simply smiled at the unexpected upgrade. It felt like one of those gentle reminders that what looks like a delay isn’t always a delay. Sometimes, life has something better in mind than the plan we made for ourselves.

But looking back, I realized the Mercedes-Benz wasn’t the whole miracle. It was only the beginning of a much bigger one.

During the ride, I found myself talking with the driver. For the first time, I explained what I do in Chinese. My Chinese isn’t fluent, so I had always assumed it would be difficult. Yet somehow, the words came naturally. There was no rehearsing. No trying to sound impressive. I simply met the human being in front of me.

Our conversation became deeper than either of us expected. He shared parts of his life. I shared parts of mine. We even discovered we came from the same ancestral hometown.

By the end of the three-hour journey, I felt surprisingly energized and deeply fulfilled. I kept wondering why.

Looking back, I realized I had just experienced some of the most meaningful work I had done in a while.

It is easy to assume that my priestess work lived only in the visible places.

My website. My blog. My videos. My courses.

Those things matter. They allow my work to reach people I may never meet.

But that day reminded me of something I had quietly forgotten. My work doesn’t begin only when I show up online. It begins the moment I become fully present with the person in front of me.

Most of that work will never be photographed. It will never become content. It will never appear in an analytics dashboard.

It happens quietly, in conversations, in moments of presence, and in the countless encounters that no one else will ever know about.

As creators, healers, teachers, and guides, it’s easy to believe that our impact is measured by what can be counted.

Views. Followers. Subscribers. Sales.

But some of the deepest work leaves no measurable trace. No one applauds it. No algorithm rewards it. No one even knows it happened.

And yet, a single conversation can change the direction of someone’s life. Maybe even our own.

I don’t know what that conversation meant for the driver. And I don’t need to. My part was simply to be present. To serve the person in front of me. To release the outcome. That is enough.

Perhaps that is what it truly means to be a priestess. Not performing spirituality. Not building a platform. Not trying to reach thousands before serving one. But allowing the Divine to work through ordinary moments that no one else will ever see.

Some of the most priceless work you’ll ever do won’t appear on your website, your social media, or your analytics.

It will happen quietly, between you, God, and the person right in front of you.
